Hello Everyone! Welcome to Spring!

Spring Tips from Kyle Tabler

Hopefully we have seen the last of winter and know we can enjoy the

outdoors.

I have some planting tips for those who want to get their green thumb

in action.

Bulbs – Summer flowering bulbs like dahlias, lilies and gladiolus should

be planted in early spring once the last frost has passed.

Perrenials – are only planted once and pop up when the time is right.

Annuals – must be replanted each year and the best to plant in the

spring are pansies, marigolds, zinnias, hydrangias and petunias. The

best to plant in the summer are zinnias, marigolds and sunflowers.

Vegetables – Summer veggies need to be planted after the last date

and when the nighttime temperature remains above 50. Vegetables to

plant in spring are cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini and arugula.

Vegetables to plant in the summer include squash, beans, zucchini,

tomatoes and peppers.

Trees – Spring is ideal to plant trees because trees need longer days in

transplanting to adjust to the soil and to promote root growth.

Nurseries also have the best selection in the spring. Best best trees to

plant include dogwood, magnolia, oak and rhododendron.

Creating an energy efficient home with Kyle Tabler

Try These Tips to Save Money on Your Next Electric Bill!

As it begins to cool off outside, it's important to take steps to avoid high electricity bills.

Luckily Kyle is here to help!

Try these tips to help make your home more energy efficient.

Smart Thermostats

Installing a smart thermostat can be a great way to help save on electricity bills. They are better in efficiency and your overall footprint for the planet.

On average, a smart thermostat can save 15-20% on your power bills. Just make sure they have the Energy Star Certified label!

LED Smart Bulbs

Try using LED smart bulbs.

Yes, they are a couple dollars more, but they can use 75% less energy than your average light bulb. They also last 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs!

Energy Diet

Try something called an “energy diet” and unplug your gadgets when not charging. This is called vampire power and can save you $200 per year on your bill.

Also, lower the thermostat on your hot water heater – every 10 degrees saves 3-5% on your bill and a temperature of 120 degrees is sufficient.

Kyle's Late Summer Tomato Salad

Detail your services

Late Summer is a great time to use those tomatoes that are being picked for the last time this year. I have a great recipe to use those juicy tomatoes!

Late Summer Tomato Salad

Ingredients

1-2lb of tomatoes (preferably home grown, heirloom)

¼ cup of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1 tsp lemon juice

1 tbsp of red wine vinegar

Add any herbs that you prefer:

  • Mint leaves
  • Parsley
  • Dill
  • Cilantro

Just a touch of the herbs will spice this salad as you like! Add Balsamic Vinegar or any other dressing to enhance the flavor.

You can easily make this into a wonderful pasta by this:

  • Combine tomatoes with olive oil and simmer
  • Add any meats or seafood (chicken or shrimp preferably)
  • Toss and then add herbs
  • Plate and add fresh parmesan and a touch of balsamic vinegar
  • Yum!!!

Kyle's Fall Home Tips

Helpful Tips to Transition Your Home from Summer to Fall

Hello Everyone!

I hope that you are enjoying the rest of Summer and getting ready for Fall. It will be here quicker than we think!!

I have some great house maintenance tips to put an end to Summer and welcome Fall.

  • Reseed your lawn – we have had a pretty dry and hot Summer so this is the best time to inspect your lawn and reseed spots that are bare…also, the cooler temperatures in the Fall encourage growth.

  • Clean gutters – Ugh! We don’t want to do this job but now is the perfect time to clean them out before the leaves start to fall

  • Winterize Deck- Late Summer is a great time to inspect the outdoor areas for power washing and protection from the Winter weather. Consider staining and weather protection.

  • Energy Check – As the seasons change, it’s a great time to check possible drafts from doors and windows, filters for your furnace and always..check your batteries in your smoke detectors

We are so lucky to live in an area that has this great change of seasons and I hope these tips will help make your transition easy!!

Kyle Tabler - The Healthy Home Expert

Welcome to Summer!

The warm weather is finally here!
We are all excited about outdoor activities, longer daylight and summer vacations
Now is the perfect time to do a home checkup for the warm months.

Outside Tips

  • Clean out the gutters - This isn't a fun job but it's very important to prevent gutter and downspout damage. Consider purchasing leaf guards for your gutters.
  • Wash windows and replace screens
  • Do a light bug spray around the house - With all of the rain that we have had, bug breeding grounds are around. A light spray should prevent any more pests.

Inside Tips

  • Check your smoke detectors
  • Dust ceiling fan blades - this will help with any dust allergies
  • Check A/C unit and filter - since it hasn't run for a few months, a check up is due

Summer Strawberry Spinach Salad

This is a wonderful and easy salad to make quickly for a garden party of barbeque.

1 cup sliced strawberries
1 handful thin sliced red onion
5 cups baby spinach leaves
3 cups mixed greens
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1/4 feta cheese crumbles
1/2 cup balsamic vinaigrette
Rinse spinach and mixed greens and combine with strawberries and onions
Chop pecans, if time toast to enhance flavor then add to salad
add feta cheese and vinaigrette
Enjoy!!

Valentine's Day Recipe Just for you

Make Your Valentine's Day Even More Special with These Two Easy Recipes!

Hello everyone!!  I have two great recipes for Valentine's Day!!  This a great dinner for you and your partner

First, let's start with a dish that is near and dear to my HEART....see what I did there!

Chicken Limone

This is a favorite dish from my favorite restaurant that I had the pleasure to be a part..Allo Spiedo

What you need:

- 2 Chicken breast Mixed Greens

- 1 stick of butter

- lemon juice

- bread crumbs

- 2 chicken breasts and tenderize..which just means pound a little to get them a little thinner

soak in a wash of egg whites and then coat with bread crumbs..just enough to get a coating on the chicken

Prepare 1/4 stick of butter and 1/4 cup of lemon juice in a sautee pan

Cook on a light flame until a boil to cook the sauce

Add the breaded chicken breasts Sautee the chicken in the sauce until cooked  Note: the breading will not break if you keep flipping the chicken, this gives the flavor in the chicken Once the chicken is cooked, place on a plate with the excess pan sauce and add mixed greens on top

Enjoy!!!

Oh!! I forgot dessert!!  Strawberry Hearts

Mix

- 1/4 pack of cream cheese

- 2 tbls of powdered sugar

- 1 tbls of sour cream

- dash of vanilla extract

- 1/4 cup heavy cream

Let this mix until it is whipped cream consistency

Take 6 strawberries and slice off the tops and cut in half Wow!!! They look like little hearts, don't they! After your wonderful cream is ready..just top that on the strawberry Boom!!

Have a Happy Valentine's Day!!
